The Health Equity Alliance (HEAL) is focused on ending health, socio-economic and racial disparities to address disproportionate death rates for mothers and infants in Tarrant County. The organization’s new name, a transition from Infant Health Network, reflects this emphasis and commitment.
HEAL, is on a mission to eliminate preventable infant and maternal death by making racial, socio- economic and health equity a reality for all in Tarrant County. Expert-led, community-focused and equity-driven, HEAL leverages, scientific, evidence-based research, in-house expertise, community organization partnerships and HEAL members to connect mothers and infants to the resources they need to equitably thrive and affect real change. Historically, most of the focus has been on the individual’s role in her own health. However, evidence shows that focusing more on addressing the conditions that drive the inequities rather than trying to “fix women” has the greatest impact on maternal and birth outcomes; and HEAL is ready to lead that change and looking to the community to help make that happen.
